If “God is love” then we should seek to RECEIVE love–from Him, alone. If we are deceived into believing that true love will come from any other source than God, then we will waste our life chasing a shadow. Our natural bent is to seek to be loved by people– instead of God. Billions of dollars are spent teaching us how to improve our looks so that we can be loved by another person. Millions is spent upon making ourselves “valuable” and “worthy” in order to obtain “the best” lover. God offers us love which is not conditioned upon our looks, wealth, talent or success. Experiencing God’s love is based only upon the willingness of our heart–we cannot be forced to love. In order to be filled with His love, our heart must surrender to Him. We shouldn’t be afraid to surrender to Him because God will not break our heart, nor will He disappoint us. Unlike the love of man, we will never be separated from His love by war, death, government, disease, disfigurement, or poverty! “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 8:38-39) Have we had any earthly lover who can make those bold promises? God’s love for us defies physical boundaries and supernatural limitations and the only thing separating us from His love–is us! We must desire Him to the point we seek Him above all else. When we learn the value of God’s love, our search for love is happily diverted from seeking it from others to seeking it from Him. God is love and when we seek God–we find love. When we find God we GIVE love. There is no greater love than His!
