When we open our HEART to Him, He begins to give our MIND wisdom and we begin a journey into truth more complex than we ever imagined. When we close our heart off to the reality of God, our mind will never be able to discover or comprehend His truth. Our heart of unbelief causes us to ignore the wisdom of God and thus, we will not have the ability to learn from Him. It is amazing to see God give wisdom in areas where we have little or no training or education. We will become wise when we remember that the wisdom of God is better than the wisdom of man. But we must never forget that we cannot possess God’s wisdom–without Him–because there is no cheating God out of what belongs to Him. Thus, the most intellectual mind of an atheist will always be limited by his own intellect. Similarly, the most intellectually esteemed “Christian” who refuses to surrender his heart to God, will be limited by his own paltry intellect to explain the inexplicable–about God! We need God’s presence in order to credibly articulate God and His truths. His truth is more than we can ever discover in our own wisdom! After God revealed the meaning of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, Daniel said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king’s matter.” (Daniel 2:20-23) When faced by the king’s death threat, Daniel could have worn himself out studying books of law and every magician’s trick—but instead, he asked God. He had the kind of relationship with God where his heart was open to God; and thus, his mind was ready to receive wisdom from God! When we realize that wisdom belongs to God, we seek Him FIRST. He pours His wisdom into the mind of one whose heart is surrendered to Him!
