There is none who loves us like God loves, so we should seek Him above all else. Why would we forfeit so great a love for something less? It is because we believe mud is as more valuable than gold! What? Yes. Compared to God, EVERYTHING is worth less. Stack it all up in a pile—goals, dreams, relationships, money, success—the sum of it all will NEVER love us like God does. It will never give us what He has and does! Is there anyone who has been more faithful to us than God? He causes the sun to rise every morning and perfectly orders the careful balance of the universe every day so that even those who are not His children have breath and life. He knows the number of hairs on our head. He knows each heart beat of every creature of His creation. If we allow Him, He holds our heart in His hands and cares for it much better than we EVER do. When we experience His faithful love, we never want to go back to the abuse of the world. When we place our heart in His hands, we know He will never break it. No one can ever come between us and God and diminish our friendship with Him–unless WE let them. The experience of knowing God enlightens us to recognize the value of His love. He is the quiet calm and eternal strength for our heart while we are amidst the chaos and ugliness of the world. The richness we experience in His presence is unsurpassed by any riches of the world or any mortal presence. The Psalmist wrote of his relationship with God: “I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psa. 16:7-11) God gives us Himself and He is more priceless than even our next breath! When we realize His value, we discover ours.
