God has given us so many amazing opportunities to encourage others! With the advent of social media like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, we have the ability to encourage–not only our neighbors–but people all over the world. So, as the Book of Hebrews says: “Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” (Heb. 10:24) First, it begins in our heart. Then, when God inspires us, we need to get up off the couch! If we really want to make a difference, then we must get out there and do it—not just for the sake of the recipients of our good works, but to encourage other Christians to do the same! This isn’t about trying to get honor for ourselves, it is about glorifying God! How will others learn if they don’t see it in action? When Tim Tebow began the “Night to Shine” program for special needs kids—it INSPIRED me! This is what our good works should do—INSPIRE others to good works! However, if no one can see our faith in action, then it’s probably dead. We need to start LIVING it! The book of James says: “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead (James 2:15-17) Then James like lays down the challenge to ALL dead-headed Christians when he says: “Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” (vs.18) Oh yeah! Don’t just talk about your faith, show ‘em what it looks like! The evidence of our love for Christ should permeate all parts of our life. We don’t put Him on the shelf just because the venue changes from church to a courtroom, a ballpark or our home! The world discovers Christ best through those who walk and talk like Jesus did—it is “living faith.” Others need to see Jesus in us wherever we are and whatever we are doing. Showing others what “living faith” looks like is showing them one of the best things they will ever see. Living by faith makes us a motion picture of God’s love! Let’s show our “living faith” to as many people as we can.
