There are some relationships where one person will “drop everything” at the beck and call of the other person. I was the person willing to bend over backwards for someone I admired because I was convinced that the attention—no matter how slight—was worth the price. As God has given me the security of His love, He has freed me from these types of relationships. When I woke up this morning the One Who loves me the most was in the room with me—just waiting for me to spend time with Him. The thought that the Almighty Creator WANTS to spend time with me–is a humbling and mind-blowing thought. There is no one more worthy of my admiration than Him. There is no one whose attention I should crave more than His because He secures my heart unlike any mortal! When we begin to spend time with Him, then we begin to develop a burning desire to be with Him: “O Lord, we wait for you; your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul. My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.” (Isa. 26:8b-9a) As we experience the complete satisfaction which He gives us, if we stray from Him, we develop a scorching thirst. “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” (Psa. 42:1-2) When we seek Him above all others, we jump at the chance to “drop everything” for Him because we KNOW He’s worth it. When we know Him, He becomes the most important part of our existence. When we realize that the relationship which Jesus enabled us to have with The Father is the key to our complete satisfaction, then we allow nothing to come between us and Him. We begin to understand what Jesus meant when He said: “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35) When we take up God’s invitation to “come unto me,” we find unimaginable satisfaction and never want to stray from Him. He is worth “dropping everything” for because He is worth more than anything.
