The wonder and beauty of Creation are a constant “proclamation” of The Creator. “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.” (Psa. 19:1-2) When we admire the beauty of Creation, we are admiring the marvelous handiwork of God. It is humbling to know that He wishes to perfect His handiwork in us! Like the father of a drug addict who wants to lift his son out of the fog of his self-destructive behavior, God wants to lift us from the destruction of our own way so we may, like Creation, live for the glorious purpose for which we were created! When we begin to kick the habits of our willful disobedience to Him, we find that we are set free from the sin-induced fog and we realize the beauty of His ways. Like the Psalmist, our heart sings: “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.” (Psa. 19:7-10) These verses will never be beautiful music to our ears until we have experienced the freedom of living in His will because the addictive delusion of our own way will prevent us from possessing the clarity to understand the wisdom and strength of God’s ways. God’s ways are sweeter than honey and wiser than we ever imagined. When we yield to Him, then our lives fall into harmony with Creation and we unite ourselves in God’s everlasting purpose to glorify Him. In Him, we accomplish greater ventures than we ever dreamed possible!
