A relationship with God which is based upon love is much different than a relationship based upon obligation or fear. When we fall in love with God we don’t do things for Him based upon obligation or fear. “Falling in love” with God is not a googly-eyed teen-aged experience—rather, it is an experience of awe and wonder. We are in perpetual awe that One so wonderful would love us so magnificently and we are honored to be filled with His love and follow His will. Being loved by Him makes loving Him–make sense. Serving Him is our privilege. His perfect love keeps us coming back for more. A man who is starry eyed in love with a woman looks for ways to please her and serves with a glad heart. The stars may fade upon discovering the many short-comings of the woman; however, God doesn’t have any shortcomings so to fall in love with Him is the best love we’ll ever fall into. We will never be disappointed by His love. Furthermore, when He fills us with His love, we learn to love the ones who have disappointed us. God’s love teaches us to love others and teaches others to love Him…this is the circle of His love. God’s love is the glue which holds His family together under worst hell on earth that the enemy can rain down upon us. During his immense persecution, Paul the Apostle wrote: “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (‭Eph. ‭3:14-19) God’s love is unfathomable, yet–readily available–to anyone with a surrendered heart. His love is one which we will never regret or forget. When you’ve had it, you live to have more of it. His magnificent love is only a surrendered heart away.
