In any crises, best advice we can give ourselves or others is to completely pursue God. God knows all the answers and He loves us more than we love ourselves. Because we are so accustomed to first seeking advice from other people, we must train ourselves to make God our first choice for advice. Sometimes He gives us the guidance we need and other times He gives us the guidance to talk to the right person for advice. When we ask for His guidance and don’t hear the moving of His Spirit, then it is likely that we need to spend some time pursuing a relationship with Him instead of just asking Him for things. The key to obtaining God’s guidance is knowing Him intimately; and we will not know Him if we continue to stand outside the room of His will. God is Holy; and to get close to Him, we must be willing to choose Him instead of sin or our own will. We are sadly mistaken if we expect God to give us His guidance without first seeking to know Him. “Seeking to know Him” is not just going to church or reading a daily devotional…it is pursuing Him at all cost and giving up whatever stands between us and Him. It is talking with Him unfettered by the weight of our own sin because we choose to daily confess and forsake it. When we begin to pursue Him like we would if we were dying of thirst, then we come to the place where we can hear the wisdom of His Spirit. The answer to ALL of our problems lies in our pursuit of God and–ALL of His children have the ability to know Him intimately. The pursuit of God begins with placing Him first in our hearts above any other: “Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].” (James‬ ‭4:8‬) His guidance and love are more priceless than anything we would ever choose in this world. Choose Him and find HIS answers and HIS peace for every crises.
