When we are born again, we are spiritually alive and have the ability to communicate with God AND to be transformed by His will. Even those who are spiritually dead (not born again) have the ability to recognize God’s presence. After all, Almighty God is the ONLY plausible explanation for the existence of a universe so unfathomably intricate; thus, God’s presence is intrinsically known to ALL men who live in His Creation. The Creation is a manifestation of The Creator. “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” (‭Rom. ‭1:19-20‬) The deluded, desperate souls who have placed their faith in something less than God, have chosen to do so at a great cost—the salvation of their soul. Furthermore, by denying the presence of God, they must conjure up impossible scenarios for the existence of Creation—all of which foolishly ignore many of the basic laws of science and rational mathematical probability. “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” (Rom. ‭1:21‬) Those who are born again are given God’s immeasurable goodness. If we allow it, His goodness will radically transform us into ALL that He created us to be! Is the sin of failing to acknowledge God’s existence worse than the sin of failing to allow His goodness transform our lives? In Romans 1 we see the appalling moral decline for those who are foolish enough to deny the existence of God; however, in Chapter 2, we see the challenge for those who know God to consider whether they’ve been transformed by His presence. “Despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” (‭Rom. ‭2:4‬) When we pursue God, His love transforms us and evidence of Him flows freely from us. His goodness should be daily changing our heart and completely transforming every aspect of how we live!
