When we have a humble heart, we recognize that our greatest worth is in Him and our greatest potential is realized in His will. The more we place ourselves in God’s Presence, the more we become humbled, awed and thankful to be His children. We must make a choice between His Presence and our pride; and when we have been in His Presence, we learn to despise our pride because it keeps us from Him. In casting out pride, we learn to love Him with a grateful heart. God’s own Words give perspective to whatever silly pride we posses: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest? All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.” (Isa. 66:1-2) His love woos us to seek Him and when we know Him, we are humbled by His power and we live gratefully by the truth in His Word. Casting out our pride opens the portal to God’s immense power, vast wisdom and perfect love. What a great trade-off for us!! Ah, I must reconsider even the most basic decisions of today and see if I am short-changing myself by allowing the pride of my own way to be my guide. What blessings will I miss if I am not humbly seeking the perfection of God’s way? The benefits of His Presence far exceed the benefits of my pride. When my goal is to bring glory to Him, then I may be assured that I am in a place of humility where God, Who makes Heaven His throne and earth His footstool, is the Captain of my heart. Following His way enables us to exceed even the greatest dreams of our heart because in His will we are not limited by our own mortality!
