The testimonies or stories of God’s power, wisdom and love in our own life help draw others to Him. The closer we get to Him, the more stories we have to share. I never realized how many miracles God had stored up for me to be a part of until I began to passionately seek Him. Recently, the most precious miracles I’ve experienced are those where God’s Spirit has spoken His perfect Words through my imperfect lips to people who I had no idea were ready to receive Christ. I didn’t know what was in their hearts or what to say—but He spoke. God’s promise in 1 Corinthians has popped out of His Word in living, breathing color and become part of my life: “But, as it is written, ‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him’— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.” (1 Cor. 2:9-12) We don’t receive His Spirit unless we surrender. The more we surrender and allow God to search out the sin in our lives and replace it with His goodness, the greater His Spirit works through us. It is in the increase of the presence of His Spirit that we begin to become the instrument of miracles. We are incapable of doing them on our own. We are also incapable of hearing Him clearly when we are ladened by our sin. We must allow Him to clean out our mind and heart so that His righteous, loving and wise Presence can move freely through us. There is nothing I ever experienced following my own way as wonderful as following His. When we surrender to Him, the magnificent, wonderfulness of God is what people see and hear in us. When He is real to us, we are used to make Him real for others.
