Have you ever loved someone so much that your heart bursts out of your chest when they walk in the room, you simply cannot imagine living without them and you cannot imagine desiring anyone else? When we have this kind of love for God, He gives us the ability to sustain this kind of intense love for another. God’s love for us is a million times greater than the greatest love we have for another; and– when we love Him, He teaches us to love others. Until I began to pursue God, I never knew that a relationship with Him could become so vital to my everyday life. You see–as we pursue Him, He begins to transform us. When we are transformed, the power of His Spirit works through us to transform others. In order to be transformed by Him, we must seek to be “in” Him. This begins when we are born again. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Cor. 5:17) When we accept Christ’s gift of salvation, we are “in” Him and our soul and spirit are made alive; however, our flesh still wages war against the beautiful transformation God has planned for us. If we do not DAILY pursue the renewing of our mind in Christ, our love will grow cold and we will be powerless to love as God does. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Rom. 12:2) God’s love is deeper than ANY love we’ve ever experienced. If we want to experience it, we must stop running from Him. We must reconcile our mind, heart and actions to His ways so that we may be held in the Almighty power, love and wisdom of His Spirit. We must open ourselves up completely to His will even if it means giving up what we love the most because anything we love more than we love Him will keep us from experiencing the full extent of His love. When we let go, He comes in and–He gives us much MORE than what we let go. We learn to love. We learn to live in joy. We learn that we never want to live even one day without Him!
