When I think about all the years I spent working to be someone I wasn’t or striving to obtain what I didn’t possess—it reminds me of how incredibly satisfied God makes me as I choose to live in His will. It’s a daily—sometimes even hourly—choice! All those years when I was idolizing others and their accomplishments, jockeying for a higher social and economic position, slaving for more possessions, slamming through life to achieve goals, rushing to fit every possible activity for success into my life, etc., I was allowing the most important things to be neglected and missing so many priceless opportunities! I made no time to develop a PERSONAL love relationship with God—after all—I was going to church three times a week and DOING so many other things for Him—wasn’t that enough??? Unfortunately, I missed the entire point of my existence! God gave me salvation so I could KNOW Him, learn to LOVE Him, learn to be LOVED by Him and THEN–glorify Him in the great fulfillment and satisfaction of the RELATIONSHIP we share! The golden perspective God gives us when we walk hand in hand with Him helps us understand what really matters and what truly satisfies us. When we find God’s will, we stop frantically and desperately beating our wings and going nowhere like a bird in a cardboard box and–we begin to actually soar to heights we’ve never known. When we allow God to open the box, we begin to live the magnificent life He’s intended for us all along. When we come to the point where God’s opinion of us is more important than man’s opinion, we seek Him first, love Him most, and trust Him above all else! When we “delight” in Him He changes the desires of our heart and satisfies each desire! “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” (Psa. 37:4-5) In His will, we begin to experience life as He intended and see life through the eyes of His amazing wisdom, unending love and unfathomably great power. “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psa. 16:11) God’s way is beyond amazing!
