Fear can prevent us from living some of the greatest adventures which God has planned for us—but—knowing Him evaporates our fear. We fear the unknown, we fear what others think, we fear failure, we fear pain, we fear being destitute, alone, etc., and those fears keep us from living jubilantly, freely and passionately. God changes all of that. He frees us from fear. This change takes TIME—it’s a marathon, not a sprint—because it requires us to get to KNOW Him and allow Him to undo the years of habits we’ve developed from living fearfully. The closer we get to God, the less we fear anything or anyone except–the thought of being without Him. We’ve all read this Bible passage many times: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom. 8:31) No matter how well we’ve memorized this verse or how many times we remind ourselves of it, we will never LEARN to live fearlessly until we KNOW God. For those who seek Him–God WILL be known. “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”(Jeremiah 29:12-13) To seek God with ALL our heart, He must become our priority. He must be the first one we tune into when we begin our day so that we are equipped to start our day WITH Him rather in our own wisdom and strength. We must train ourselves to make Him the FIRST one we turn to in time of need and the FIRST one we seek for advice because He is ALL powerful and He knows everything. It blows my mind how God gives His wisdom freely—time after time—for even the most mundane issues of my day. When we get in the habit of receiving His profound wisdom and strength, we begin to recognize our vital NEED for His presence. Then–we experience His presence evaporating our fear. We begin to comprehend God’s profound care for us and understand what it is like to experience “perfect love.” When we experience God’s perfect love…He “casts out our fear.” (1 John 4:18) Living with God is living in the greatest and most fearless adventure of our lifetime!
