The more we understand God, the more often it becomes our FIRST reaction to talk with Him throughout the day about EVERY struggle. I’m not just talking about the big things—but also the small things. Why wouldn’t we want the advice of the most brilliant mind we can ever know—on EVERYTHING? God wants for us to depend upon Him because He loves us and He wants for us to have the BEST. We need to understand that the less optimal choice is for us to depend upon ourselves. He is the ultimate Authority on everything, so why wouldn’t we go to Him first about anything—even the smallest things? For every problem—He knows the BEST solution. In order to grasp this, we need to learn how to take our prayer life to the next level. When we begin to know God, He teaches us how to pray. For years, I thought I knew how to pray but I had really just scratched the surface. I prayed mostly about the “big” things and didn’t really have many two way conversations with God throughout the day about everything else. As He has opened the eyes of my heart to know Who He is, He has also opened my mind to talk with Him much differently. I am learning that His is the most brilliant mind I consult with–all day long. The better we know Him, the more confident we are about asking for His help. “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15) When we pursue Him with passion, we learn to live in His will and then we gain the confidence which comes from KNOWING Him. When we become confident in knowing God, talking to Him about EVERYTHING becomes our first response because we realize the foolishness of omitting Him from ANY decision. As we learn to talk with Him, we begin to experience the miraculous brilliance of His wisdom working out even the most mundane problems of our everyday life. Knowing God gives us confidence to take ALL of our requests to Him because when we know God, we know everything we need to know.
