When we blame God for evil, we are casting doubt upon the very character of God. We blame God for things like sickness, death, hurricanes, war and great tragedy. We even blame God for the more trivial things–like not having enough money or not having a spouse or boyfriend. We doubt His love and decline to follow His will only because we are deceived about His character. We live in a fallen world, corroded by sin and ruled by satan who wishes to deceive us about God and then destroy us. That’s why God’s Word warns us: “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Pet. 5:8) God does not want us to suffer. He provided deliverance from the very one who wishes to drag us off to hell! The Bible says: “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins.” (Col. 1:13-14) We must resist becoming blinded by the horrible lie that we cannot fully trust God’s character. God gave us all (including satan)–free will. We’ve all chosen pride and fallen from grace. (Genesis 1, Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28) Satan and the angels who followed him were cast out of heaven and Adam and Eve were cast out of Eden. Pride was chosen over the perfection of God. God’s character has not changed—He is still perfectly righteous, just and loving. Through His Son He has provided for our redemption so we may be reconciled to Him! This is the indescribably wonderful character of our magnificent God! He loves us more than we can possibly comprehend. There are no tornadoes, cancer cells, blindness or death in heaven because it is the dwelling place of God. Miraculously, He also dwells in the hearts of those who are covered by the redemption of His Son. “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Cor. 4:4-6) We should never let the god of this world blind us about the character of Our Heavenly Father. Throughout the troubles of this short life we can absolutely trust the unfailing and unchanging character of God!
