Our physical life is so very fleeting, and—it’s hard to imagine that–in the next hour that we, or someone we know or love may die tragically or unexpectedly. While our physical life is fragile, thankfully, our spiritual life is not so! Once Christ gives us life–no one can take it away! Jesus said: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:28) Much of our physical life is lived with the knowledge that at some point death will come knocking. After we’re born, each minute which passes moves us closer to death. Sometimes death is hastened by the sin and corruption of this fallen world–because satan roams around “like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) We live amongst people like ourselves who have the free will to commit evil. Until we receive the eternal life that Christ offers, we are the walking dead; i.e., we’re spiritually dead walking around in living flesh because our sin has separated us from God. When we are made alive in Christ, though our physical body is still frail, but our spirit is made indestructible! The Bible says: “You have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable.” (1 Peter 1:23a) Such amazing hope we possess! We must not hide it–but rather share it! Many live in real fear of PHYSICAL death; however, many are ignorant of the more horrible consequences of ETERNAL death! The Gift of eternal life through Christ–which can never be taken from us–is their only lasting hope and comfort. If we knew a person was about to be murdered and we could save them–we would move swiftly to warn them! Therefore, if we know anyone who is bound for eternal death, we must also resolve to move quickly to alert them to their fate. The spiritually dead must be given TRUTH so that they may choose to accept the gift of salvation and be made spiritually alive–before the expiration of their fragile human life! My eternity is secured by Christ–so to what purpose will I commit the of remainder of my frail human existence? Investing in my flesh–which is dying anyway–will never produce the rewards of investing in the eternal life of another soul!
