If we want God’s help and the best He has planned for us, then we must learn to live in the reality of HIS Truth. If we don’t want to live in truth, then we should at least acknowledge that we are compromising our own happiness by choosing to live in the distorted reality of lies. Truth set us free and opens our eyes; lies bind and blind us. I remember living under the delusion that I should spend my life working to make myself rich, beautiful, prosperous, successful and have as much fun as I could along the way–oh, and I’d appease God by tossing Him my 10% tithe. I believed the lie that my own happiness and success was the pinnacle of my existence instead of the truth that I was created to glorify God. I chose to follow the father of lies instead of the Author of truth. Jesus said of truth: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) He said of lies: “You are of your father the devil…there is no truth in him… he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44) God is Truth and gives us light and the devil is a liar and blinds us. And, just as I cannot help a client who refuses to acknowledge the truth about the facts of their case, God cannot help me if I do not acknowledge the truth about the dangers of sin. Furthermore, if I don’t acknowledge the truth that God created me for a glorious purpose to live for His glory, then I choose a lesser life than God has destined for me! In order to live in truth, we must diligently study it, honestly seek it and develop a relationship with God–Who is the Author of Truth. The truth reveals how to live a pure life and we learn to rid ourselves of the chains which prevent us from living in complete freedom. However, our heart must WANT to CONFORM to truth because it will not conform to us—it is unchangeable. If we want God’s help, we must seek to know Him because He is The Truth. Living in God’s truth is where we possess His help and unsurpassed peace and live the Divine destiny He has planned for each of us!
