If you met the greatest love of your lifetime–you know, the one who is destined to be your soulmate–would you pass that love by? Would that love be rejected in favor of hoping to find someone better, “playing the field,” or for pursuing material dreams which are less than love? Or–would you surrender to that love because true love is more important and you realize that there is nothing “better”than true love? Those who have experienced true love with another human would agree that it would be foolish to reject it. What I had never experienced until recently is the truest form of love–God’s love. God offers us what the Bible terms as “unsurpassed” love. However, to find it, we must have a surrendered heart. We must stop thinking that there is anything better than His will. Ephesians says: “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”(Eph. 3:14-19) When we “bow the knee” of our heart, we surrender to God’s perfect love. After we experience God’s love, we realize that surrender to Him is not a sacrifice–it’s the best decision we’ve ever made. When we surrender to God, our heart is opened up to experience the vast ocean of His love. His love is more pure and perfect than our soulmate. Irrespective of whether we have yet found our soulmate, we may find complete love and fulfillment in the perfect love of God. The key to God’s love is our surrendered heart. Surrender is never a sacrifice when it gives us something better than we had before we surrendered. Bow the knee to God and bless your heart–with the breadth, length, height and depths of His love!
