Sometimes I make own life more difficult than necessary. I worry about circumstances and people I can’t change; I lose sleep and my appetite; and–as all of the trouble begins to close in and crush my heart–I must remind myself to be still and listen for my Father’s voice. In order to hear Him, I must purify my heart of all that separates me from Him. As I do, He redirects me. His peaceful presence removes the swirling thoughts and emotions, the pressure of pain and the havoc that evil wishes to wreak upon my life. He reminds me that He has a unique and divine purpose for me. He reminds me that I should NEVER allow lesser things to distract me from His purpose. In the wise and comforting words of the Psalmist: “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness!” (Psalms 57:2-3) Ah, such peace and comfort reside in the steadfast and faithful love of God! When the love of all others fail us–He is there. When we repent, He does not hold our offenses over our head and begrudge us of His generous love! Therefore, why in the world would I ever want to live in LESS than HIS perfect will? He carefully designed us and planned a divine purpose for each of us. He descended to earth and sacrificed everything dear to Himself—for us. He sealed our victory over sin with His death and sent His Spirit to live and breathe in us. Why would we choose the stress of problems over the peace of His will? As we begin our day, let us choose to purify our heart and seek the wisdom of His way and then–stress and uncertainty will evaporate into the peace of His magnificent plan.
