Jesus said that He came to give us—not just life—but ABUNDANT life. He said: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10) Different translations of the Bible describe this in terms of “better life than they ever dreamed of,” (MSG) or, life “till it overflows.” (AMP) Is this your life? Do we measure the abundance of our life by the paltry pop culture definition of things we accumulate, our accomplishments, or the praise we garner? Or, perhaps it’s even something more noble like having family and friends? If this were God’s definition of the abundant life, then people like Paul the Apostle never had it. Abundance begins with God. He is the Father of every blessing. OUR abundance begins with our relationship with Him. The most meaningful relationships that we are capable of experiencing with others will flow from our relationship with Him. Remember Jesus said that He is the vine and we are the branches. (John 15:5) From our relationship with Him, we discover the “abundance of life.” We discover the depths of loving and being loved by others; the depth of giving and receiving wisdom, the self-discipline from walking in the wisdom of His ways, the freedom of living outside the box instead of inside the pressure cooker; the balance between meeting our physical and spiritual needs; the enduring happiness from living for what matters; and the beauty and peace of living in the unique and wonderful person He created us to be! WITH Him, we learn what it means to “live abundantly!” Once you’ve experienced God’s abundance, you no longer want to live in the sham promises of the pop culture. The more I am WITH God, the more I never want to be WITHOUT Him! I’ve never had more joy than I do now and it begins again each day that I’m WITH Him. Each of us have EQUAL OPPORTUNITY to have a relationship with Almighty God. We can CHOOSE to live each moment walking with Him and, when we do–we discover that HE is where our abundant life begins!
