God is teaching me what I call “heart success;” which is the type of success which flows from loving people with God’s love. True success isn’t measured in possessions or money; rather, it’s measured in the hearts we touch. When God’s love is in us, He enables us to encourage others, promote the work of others, have joy for the blessings of others, etc., because God’s love “seeketh not her own.” (1 Cor. 13:5) We can’t be completely sold on this idea until we EXPERIENCE it because the world has spent years training us to think the opposite. The world teaches us to “seek our own” but God teaches us to “seek NOT our own.” Yet, it is our love–not our wealth, position or power–which is the greatest measure of true success. And we must begin this path to “heart success” by knowing and loving God because He is our greatest Source of love. As we experience God’s love for ourselves, it influences us to love who He made us and we no longer need to strive for SELF-esteem. This is the first part of “heart success.” Then, as one who is completely confident in His love, we are set free to turn our energy outward to encourage and promote others to find the same success. This is the second part of “heart success.” It is a beautiful circle of love which Jesus summed up in the two Great Commandments: He said, “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31) Loving God above all else allows us to love ourselves like He does and then–we experience the incredible “heart success” of loving others!
