Are we chasing a dream that makes us anxious? God does not want us to live in anxiety. Jesus said: “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing…But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! (Luke 12:22-23, 28) He cares about the grass and the birds, and we somehow don’t think He cares about what’s in our heart? If we don’t believe He cares about us, then we just don’t know Him. If we’ll talk to Him, He’s faithful to show us if we have chosen the wrong goal or if it’s one that just requires guidance and trust in Him. If the dreams or goals that keep us up at night are ones that make very little difference over the vast span of eternity, we need to allow God to put it in perspective. He doesn’t want us to throw our life away on things that don’t matter. He has a plan. If we allow Him to guide us, He will give us profound and eternal purpose. When we operate in His strength, we maximize our eternal potential because we aren’t weighed down by the things which pass away! God isn’t weighed down by circumstances. “Alas, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! There is nothing too hard or too wonderful for You.” (Jeremiah 32:17) Whatever we are anxious about is not too hard for God. He has a plan and His faithfulness is immeasurable: “Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, extend to the skies, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.” (Psalms 36:5) When we give our dreams and goals to God, He gives us peace–and greater accomplishments and blessings than we’ve ever imagined!
