Is God our navigator or our back-up plan? I guess it depends upon whether we think we have a better plan than He does. If His way is best, we start with His plan in the morning and we finish with it in the evening. We don’t vary from it because we’ve seen the results of both, and our experience is that His plan is always better! The days I follow my own plan instead of His are so substandard! And why in the world do I engage in such foolishness? Well, the list includes–bad habits, forgetting how wise He is, forgetting I don’t know everything, believing my ideas are more exciting or satisfying than His, etc. Often, I won’t even admit I’m not listening to God, but my actions give me away. The proof is in yesterday. How much time did I spend requesting His constant guidance, throughout the entire day? God said that He has huge, wonderful plans for us! “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord…” (Jeremiah 29:11-14a) He isn’t hiding Himself and He doesn’t hide the ball. When we live as close to Him as we can, He reveals HIS hour by hour plan for our day. It’s never boring. It’s always satisfying. It’s always an adventure. He places us in His stream of eternal blessings. We don’t worry about tomorrow because we know He’s been there. We don’t worry about today because He’s here guiding us. He hears our heart speak and He embraces us with His response. We should do the same. Why would we wait for our own plans to fall apart before making Him our navigator? When we spend time with Him first thing in the morning, we program our GPS to His satellite frequency. We’re tuned in to listen for His directions throughout the day. There’s no better plan we could possibly conceive today than to simply listen to Him!
