It’s addicting to experience God’s confidence, strength and love manifested in and through us. The more we experience Him in us, the more we want for Him to stay! We no longer want to choose sin because our relationship with Him is far too precious. There’s such a critical connection between our loving obedience to Him and His confidence and strength in us. We begin to desire Him above our disobedience. The Bible says: “Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.” (1 John 3:21-24) What’s it like to have God “abide” in us? Well, as we get to know God, we fall in love with Him and then–we desire to please Him. His love creates love within us and generates an obedient heart which draws us closer to Him and we’re filled with His confidence and strength. His Spirit is freed within us and He constantly gives us direction, confidence, strength, peace and focus. We are “plugged in” to the power of God Almighty. The profound weariness of bearing the burdens of the world in our own strength–rolls off our shoulders. When we spend quality time with God first thing in the morning, He recharges us. Then, we are passionate about staying connected with Him! We possess His Spirit as our guide for the day’s journey; and when we constantly listen, He makes our path clear. In Him, we know where to go, what to say and what to do. We’re no longer weakened by the world and our own sin because He is “abiding in us.” God is neither weak nor sinful. In Him, we possess a piece of heaven to share with the broken and desperate world. When we allow Him to constantly abide in us, He becomes our greatest strength and confidence!
