When I was young girl, one of my dream jobs was to work for a charity so I could give away money to people in need. I didn’t really think about how I was going to get the money–I just wanted to give it away. What a rewarding, joyful job to help others get out of poverty–right?! Well, now that God’s Spirit has come to live in me, He has made that dream come true in a way that’s far better! God has given me a gift more priceless than money—Himself! He made everything and He owns everything. He wants to give His children more than they can carry away. He gives us what is impossible to obtain without Him–His eternal life, peace, love, joy, wisdom and power. Because these gifts are from HIM–we can give away as much of them as we want without running out! We should be handing these out as fast as we can to make the lives of others better–right? Are we doing this? If not–why not? We get so weighted down by the cares of the world and pursuing the wood, hay and stubble it offers that we often leave the precious jewels locked up in our heart and never give them away. We need to release them. We have hope that the world is waiting for–the Bible calls it a “lively” hope–because Christ makes us alive! “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3) We must be vigilant to not allow the cares of the world to deaden the image of this living hope. When people meet us do they see and hear Jesus or do they see someone just like them who is toiling away to collect more perishables? God has given us priceless, eternal gifts. When we give them away, He multiplies them so we never run out. As we pass through this day, we have marvelous opportunities! God is so good; and when we allow Him to be seen in us, His goodness blesses others. When He is in us, we have the privilege to give Him to others–He is the most priceless gift we can give!
