Have you ever poured out your love on someone, only to have it painfully rejected? Well, God doesn’t reject our love. In fact, in our love story with Him–God made the first move! “We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) Wow! God, Who is the greatest Lover of our heart, loved us before we even thought to love Him! Have we chosen to experience His magnificent love? Or–have we rejected Him? Why would we EVER reject His perfect love? We are often deluded by the thought that our choice to be independent from Him holds more promise for us than living in His loving care. Independence from God is the original sin which separated mankind from God way back in the Garden of Eden. When we choose sin, we reject His love. How foolish to choose what hurts us in favor of He Who loves us! He is our most faithful love. He says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” (Jeremiah 31:3) When we seek Him with all our heart, He fills us with love we are incapable of comprehending–without His presence. (Ephesians 3:18-19) He is God; He is love. There is none who loves us deeper. When we love Him, He gives us more than anyone else who has ever loved us. He also gives us more than anyone else we’ve ever loved. Once we’ve experienced His love, we never want to go back to not loving Him. The piercing pain of having our love rejected by another person is something we never have to worry about with God. There is no fear in loving Him. His love is perfect. When we experience His love, we learn how to truly love others. We have no expectation from them except for them to know the same love we do. If this sounds unbelievable–it’s because IT IS unbelievable, in fact, it’s impossible–without Him. When we relentlessly pursue God with the trusting abandon of a child–we find love that existed only in our imagination–before we knew Him. God holds the key to our heart.
