Many of our relationship problems rob us of joy–not because of the fault of other people–rather, because we don’t know God well enough. When we passionately pursue Him, we realize that He is the key to ALL relationships. When we know Him, we gain more of His perfect perspective about ourselves and others. For example, when someone is hateful to us, God enables us to see THEIR pain and insecurity instead of allowing their actions to create pain and insecurity within US. The deeper we’re in love with Him, the less shallow we become. Knowing Him allows us to take our focus off the offensive nature of ugly communications or actions which ruin relationships, and to focus upon healing the heart. We tend to focus upon blaming the other person, but often it’s our own heart that’s in constant need of God’s healing. Knowing God changes our heart so that when we’re not the offender, we learn how to remain unoffended. God knows every heart, and when we’re close to Him, He gives us a peek inside what we’d otherwise never be able to see. He is Omniscient, He is Almighty, and His love is powerful. When we know Him, we know the power of true love. He empowers us to love more like He does. When we’re born again, He places His Almighty reservoir of love within us. The Bible says, “God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans‬ ‭5:5) He fills us so full that we don’t need to depend upon love from others in order to be joyful. When we pursue Him with the passion reserved for the greatest desire of our heart, we discover treasures more valuable than we ever imagined. No one gives us love, joy, peace, wisdom, satisfaction and power like He does! He is God. There is no Friend who has or ever will love us like He does! He is the kind of Friend to us that we need to be to each other! Jesus said, “Love one another as I have loved you.” (John‬ ‭15:12‬b)
