God has given each of us a remarkable imagination. Are we using it? More importantly, are we using it for His glory? We are all created in God’s image and it’s very easy to see the greatness of HIS imagination–just look out the window! God has a plan for each amazing gift He has placed inside of us. In order to maximize each gift, we must seek Him above all else and use our gifts with absolute faith in Him. Sometimes faith takes our imagination way outside the box of convention. Faith applied to imagination produces the greatest inspiration because it glorifies the Creator of the gift. For example, the first time I saw the church, Sagrada Familia, in Barcelona, it instantly drew me to God. I had never had a building draw me to God. It was designed by Antoni Gaudi, whose architecture is characterized by his fantastic imagination and his deep, uninhibited devotion to God. The church is covered with detailed images of Creation, living creatures, the life, death and resurrection of Christ, the fruits of the Spirit, etc. I had never had a building make the spirit of God feel so alive in my heart. Gaudi’s design and imagination inspired within me an awe of God’s presence rather than man’s glory. It inspired me to use my gifts and join with creation in glorifying Him as it says in Psalms: “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.” (19:1-4a) We are the part of creation which God dared to love. He has blessed us with creativity and imagination and it should never be dictated by the narrow confines of other sinners like ourselves. This is God’s province within us. We are loved by Him. If we allow Him to guide us, there is no limit to what He can do through us. When we seek Him, He creates the unimaginable!
