We exchange gifts with each other on Christmas, however, are we receiving the gifts Our Father intends for us? He is a good Father; in fact, He is the best. He loves us more than we love ourselves. He proved it with the Gift of His Son. His gifts satisfy us completely. They also give us the greatest sense of accomplishment. If we’ve experienced the satisfaction of His gifts and then we leave them behind–we also feel the greatest sense of loss. There is nothing in this world more wonderful than His gifts. They are irreplaceable!

God’s gifts come in many forms–but the greatest ones may be possessed only within a relationship with Him. We often believe God’s greatest gifts are wealth or special relationships. However, no amount of wealth and no other person can give us God’s most precious gifts because they are from Him alone. When we know Him, we not only receive His gifts, but also we may give them. They are the gifts of His heart: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬)

For many years I tried to manufacture the fruits of the Spirit in my flesh because I didn’t love God enough to forsake my own way. Thus, I was only able to experience and give a poor imitation of His gifts. My love was conditional. My peace and joy depended upon my circumstances. My faithfulness was shallow. However, when I returned to God, He began pouring His priceless gifts into my life! “Incredible” falls short of describing the experience. However, because the battle with my flesh is real–I still stray. But His gifts are a powerful experience. He constantly draws me back because once you’ve had God’s best, the world is far less appealing. God’s Gifts are best and He wants to give them to His children! “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” (James‬ ‭1:17‬)
