From time to time I get completely overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude things I have to do. I wonder if I’ll ever get everything done on time–or even at all. I wonder if I’ll fail and disappoint others. The demands upon my time never seem to stop. I solve one problem and three more appear. When I begin to feel this way–I have to stop myself and ask God: “What is it YOU want me to do?”

When I do this, the strength of His Spirit fills me. He focuses me. He fills me with victory. Yes–the responsibilities and problems are still there–but they are put in perspective. The responsibilities that are aligned with God’s will for my life–belong to God–and, the superfluous, energy-sapping ones–are cast aside. He sorts this out for me every time I ask! He is strong and wise.

When I listen to Him–I never feel overwhelmed.

God has the ability to take the small seeds of my obedience and multiply them for His grand purpose! The Bible says: “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11) When we plant HIS seeds–we WILL accomplish His eternal purpose. In His will, our life is never a failure. Surrendering to Him is like taking a key, placing it in the ignition of a great earth moving machine and watching it move mountains. When the key remains in my pocket, I might as well be shoveling dirt with a teaspoon!

Living in God’s will gives me a supremely enriching existence. At the end of my life, I want to look back and see the footprints of God everywhere I’ve been. Each day is a new opportunity to walk with Him. How humbling and wonderful it is to be His child!
