When we seek God–we discover our worth. For too many years I tried to find my worth in other people. For example, I looked to find my value in relationships with men–so I worked slavishly to be successful, clever and beautiful–just so to be valued and loved. What I didn’t realize is that no one could give me what I was searching for–except God. I couldn’t even give it to myself. God made me in His image. (Genesis 1:27) Thus, to find my worth–I had find Him.

When you create or design something–art, music, poetry, a home, a business, etc.–you know it inside and out. Because God made us–He knows us. When we know Him–we know ourselves. Without Him, we are left finding who we are through the clouded mirror of people’s perceptions. We become what others think we should be. Knowing God gives us clarity about who He made us to be and then, we can become exactly who He designed us to be.

The Bible says: “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” (Psalms‬ ‭139:13-16‬)

Discovering our unique design is an amazing journey!

The journey begins right now–if we want it. We must seek Him. We find Him all around us–in His Word, in those who know Him, in His house, in His Creation. When we become His child by accepting His free gift of salvation and then we passionately pursue a relationship with Him–we find the miraculous person He created within us. We are free to live exactly as He created us to live. Our worth–is found in Him.
