When we have God’s powerful perspective we live like anything is possible! To have God’s perspective, we must see things from where He does. This means we must be near Him. When we’re near Him, our eyes are opened and we gain His perspective–much like Elisha the Prophet had.

The Syrian King sent an entire army to kill Elisha, but Elisha wasn’t worried because he could see God’s army covering down. However, his servant didn’t see God’s army–he just saw the enemy army.

The Bible says: “When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, ‘Alas, my master! What shall we do?’ He said ‘Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are against us.’ Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.’ So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” (‭2 Kings‬ ‭6:15-17‬)

Elisha was close enough to God to not only have His perspective, but to also communicate like friends. He had God’s ear and His eyes. God granted Elisha’s prayer to open His servant’s eyes and to temporarily blind the entire army. Then, instead of them killing his enemy, he led them into the city like docile school boys, fed them and sent them home. They never came back. (vs. 18-23)

God’s plan to protect Elisha was likely much different than he imagined.

God’s plan often is!

If we choose to live far from God, we won’t experience His plan because we’ll always be limited by human perspective. However, if we draw close to God, we gain His power, love and wisdom. This is a personal experience–a friendship–which requires one-on-one time. We must daily set aside time to talk with Him and passionately study to know Him. As we begin to love Him–we want to obey Him. As our friendship develops, we gain His perspective. It’s the most powerful place we’ll ever live!
