Circumstances and people often fail us, but God NEVER disappoints us! His love never fails. His power is Almighty. He has ALL the right answers. God is perfect, and perfection is the antithesis of disappointment. The Bible says: “This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?” (‭Psalms‬ ‭18:30-31) http://bible.com/59/psa.18.30-31.esv. The more our hope and trust is in God, the less we suffer disappointment.

I had to live through many, many heartbreaks before I recognized that I didn’t have to live in disappointment. God showed me that I’d never learned to rely on Him. Although I had trusted Him to give me eternal salvation, I had not trusted Him to be my earthly guide. I trusted my intellect, power, money, friends, looks, talent, family, and law degree to provide what I wanted and needed. I placed my hope in things that fail. I never considered His advice worth seeking. That’s because I’d never really bothered to get to know Him. When know God, we realize His ways are worth seeking. Although His way is often much different than we expected–it’s ALWAYS better. His vast knowledge base provides the best intel to make the right decisions. God knows the hearts and minds of people, the future and the past. He created cause and effect. In order to avoid disappointment, we simply need to know Him.

When we know Him, we learn to live each day asking for His guidance instead of relying upon ourselves. We learn to roll with His plan even if it’s not what we envisioned. We know He’s smarter than we are. When we seek Him–God will be our constant guide. His standard of love never changes. He always has time for us. He listens. He’s never too tired. He never forgets us. He created us and loves us more than we love ourselves! When we live close to God, we live far from disappointment!
