Why do we often blame God for everything bad that happens? Whether it’s sickness, crime, natural disasters or personal heartbreak–we blame Him. Sometimes our blame game is more subtle–meaning, we simply stop trusting Him. We reason that He’s not doing such a great job, so we take matters into our own hands. When we blame God, we’re doubting His character. It’s simply a reflection of how little we know about Him. We’re like a blind man walking over a cliff. We fail to comprehend reality and truth.

God gave us free will.

Free will gives us the ability to choose love. Free will also triggered our fall from the perfection of Eden. It brought death. That’s why Jesus gave His life. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans‬ ‭6:23‬) http://bible.com/1/rom.6.23.kjv We live in a fallen world, corroded by sin and ruled by satan whose mission is to deceive us about God. “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8b) We must not be blinded by satan’s lie that because evil exists–we can’t trust God’s character. Evil hasn’t changed God. He loves us so much that He gave us the ability to choose Him and experience love. Without free will, we’d never be able to love. Would we have rather He created us as loveless robots?

In heaven there are no tornadoes, cancer cells, crimes or death because it is the dwelling place of God. Miraculously, God also dwells in the hearts of His children. “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:4-6) When we draw close to Him, we He enlightens us to His perfect character. We learn we can trust Him in everything!
