Giving opens the doors to God’s blessings. Giving is not just about money; it includes our most valuable resource–our time! In fact, money is actually easier to give than time because time is something we can’t ever get back. We may think that giving involves a certain degree of risk and sacrifice; however, when we follow God’s guidance in our giving–it’s never a risk. Rather, it’s an opportunity that we never want to miss! However, the key to blessed giving is listening to God’s guidance.

We all have instances where we have given our time, talent or resources to help someone else, and it appears that they just wasted it.

However, if what we gave was at God’s direction–then it’s never wasted. We need to train ourselves to stop requiring results or expectations when we give. In Him, we have all we need. When we give, He showers us with the gifts that come only from Him, like joy, peace, security, strength, wisdom, etc. These are gifts that our talent and money can’t buy. Jesus said: “give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” (Luke‬ ‭6:38‬) The gifts God gives us when we live in His presence transform us into generous givers.

We have no legitimate excuse for not giving because we ALL have talent and time. Our talents are as varied as we are–cooking, teaching, listening, sports, carpentry, etc. Furthermore, we ALL have the same number of hours in a day! Thus, we EACH have EQUAL opportunity to give. So, what will we do with the time, talent and the resources God has given us? The best blessings in life are not the temporal, material things we tend to hang onto–they are the blessings found in God’s presence.
