As our faith in God grows, we no longer need to know every twist in the path before taking our next step. Sometimes it’s better we don’t know. When the Israelites fled Egypt, they didn’t know God would use the Red Sea to rescue them. To them, it was a death trap! (Exodus 14:10-14) But Moses had faith in God’s plan.

The Bible says: “Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.” (‭Exodus‬ ‭14:21-23, 27-29‬) Wow! No one could have predicted God’s rescue plan!

When we know God, we’re not afraid of a future we can’t predict because we know God is already there. We live like He knows more than we do. We know He’s bigger than our Red Sea. We take that first step off the sandy shore because we know He’ll handle the details. We don’t need to know why or how. We know He knows. We only need to know Him. The Bible says, “your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:5‬) The outer boundaries of our walk of faith should be set by the “power of God” instead of the “wisdom of men!”
