Go Ahead, Try On Your Own…Or?
When we do life without trusting God, we make our life harder than it should be.. ~KFaith
We think lies benefit us; otherwise, we wouldn’t tell them—right? I speak from the experience of having been a liar; indeed, there was a time when a lot of my life was a lie! It started when I was young. I would lie to my parents about where I was going and who I was with. After I was born again, I stopped lying for a while. However, I failed to develop my personal relationship with God and thus, Christianity was unfulfilling and my lies began again. I didn’t find joy in following the rules of the Bible because I was doing it without a relationship with God. So I sought happiness in the world while obeying just enough of the rules to pretend to be a good Christian. I was afraid that the truth would rob me of freedom and happiness because–I’d never discovered the freedom and joy of being close to God. I thought God’s Word was rules of imprisonment. I had no idea that His Word was a love letter of freedom.
When I was finally trapped and crushed by the burden of living in the hypocrisy and fear of lies, God touched my heart. I was desperate for freedom from the fear caused by all the skeletons in my closet of lies. I didn’t know anyone who would love me if they knew all my dark secrets; but God showed me that He did. That’s the kind of love I wanted. God gave me the freedom of truth.
Jesus said: “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31b-32) The truth in the Bible were written by God who loved us so much that He gave us everything. If someone died for you, wouldn’t their words be precious to you? God’s laws prevent our pain, and His wisdom gives us life. When we seek to follow His Word because we love Him–rather than to appease Him or please other people–we learn to live in truth. Truth and freedom go hand in hand–as do lies and slavery. Each day we choose to live in truth we also choose to live in freedom!
