The more time we spend with God, the less anxiety we we have because–God is NEVER anxious! Our anxiety is never bigger than God. If He secured our eternal salvation against the power of death and hell–He can do anything! The Bible says: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” (1 John‬ ‭5:13-15‬) If God who made everything will give us anything then why are we ever anxious? Doesn’t that mean that He can take care of whatever is making us anxious? So why don’t we ask? Or–why doesn’t He give us what we ask for?

Notice the Bible says that God will give us anything we ask if it is “according to His will.” If we are close to Him, we live in His will. If what we’re asking for is outside His will, isn’t good for us, or isn’t His best–then, why would we expect Him to give it to us? We must not believe Him to be a very good Father. We want our children to have the best–and God is a better parent than we are! He is the best father we’ll ever have.

When I’m close to God and anxiety arises because of a problem or unmet need, I don’t let it get to me because He’s already got me. He gives me what I need for today. The only reason I’m ever anxious is when I allow my sin to separate me from the presence of God–and, oh, by the way, worrying is a huge sin because it’s doubting character of God. God loves us more than we comprehend. He desires for us to live in His wonder. When are close to Him, we exchange our anxiety for His extraordinary care. The greater God’s presence in our life, the less we are anxious!
