The crushing blows of life give us an opportunity to experience an exponentially greater dose of God’s power. However, to experience God’s power on a miraculous level, we must listen to Him more than ourselves or anyone else. Our heart must be humble. We must be so close to God that He is our first port of call in every storm.

Moses led over two million Israeli slaves out of Egypt, and as they were standing trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army, he didn’t know God’s plan of rescue, but he knew God! Thus, as the men, women and children cowered in fear on the edge of the Red Sea, Moses boldly told them: “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (‭Exodus‬ ‭14:13-14‬) http://bible.com/59/exo.14.13-14.esv To speak with such confidence, Moses clearly had to know God! However, it’s evident from what God told him right after this great motivational speech–that he didn’t know how God was going to pull off the rescue until minutes before it was time to execute God’s plan. Right after Moses confidently told the Israelites God would fight for them, he asked God to show him the plan and God said: “Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.” (Exodus 14:15b-16) At this point, if Moses’ pride and worldly wisdom had kicked in, he may have reacted to God’s unconventional plan by asking: “Are you joking? Stretch my walking stick over the sea? Really? Can’t you just send some fire-power from heaven?” I don’t know what was going through Moses mind; however it’s evident that neither the roar of the Egyptian army or the terror of the slaves shook his faith in God. He stretched out his rod over the sea and witnessed God’s miraculous power. God’s power was displayed in Moses’ life because he was humble. (Numbers 12:3)

Humility places our finger on God’s trigger. Then God triumphs over all our battles!
