Most of us have been taught that success depends, in large degree, upon our self-confidence. Therefore, much of our life is built around developing self-confidence. I was no exception in believing this misguided view. I pursued higher education mostly so I could “be somebody.” I worked-out multiple times a day and adorned my body in a way that people would be attracted to me. I developed multiple talents so people would applaud me. I wanted to be admired as a successful and beautiful woman, thus–I did things to build my SELF-confidence. I didn’t realize that by doing so, I was limiting myself. What??? Yes! I discovered that SELF-confidence limits my accomplishments to me, while GOD-confidence gives me unlimited possibilities! What a revelation this was for me! It has been life changing. It has allowed God to give me purpose and opportunities I never dreamed possible!

You see, when we realize our desperate need for God, we learn to confident in HIM. Sure, we can still pursue a career, develop our talent and take care of our body but–there is a huge difference in our level of success. When our confidence in GOD, we have a higher purpose than SELF and thus, we engage His POWER. It makes all the difference. God is efficient and effective. He explodes our talent, resources and time. It’s the most incredible experience. How do we get there?

First, we must recognize our need for Him to the degree that He becomes the most important person in our life. We rearrange our life for Him because we need Him more than anything or anyone else. The Bible says, “That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being.” ‭(Acts‬ ‭17:27-28a‬) When we realize that God is vital to our existence, then our life revolves around Him; so in Him, we “live, move and have our being.” Living in GOD-confidence is always much more powerful than living in SELF-confidence!
