It’s hard to fathom that God does NOT worry, because we often imagine God is like we are, and–WE WORRY. Sometimes when we begin worrying, we don’t even know it’s gripping us until we develop physical symptoms. For example, I can always tell when I’ve been worrying because I wake up in the morning and my jaw hurts. Guess I’m what you’d call a “jaw-clenching” worrier. Worry affects people in different ways—hair loss, wrinkles, weight loss or gain, irritability, depression, anxiety, etc. God doesn’t have ANY of these problems because He is in control. Meanwhile, we worry because we can’t control our circumstances or the people around us. Hmmmm…I wonder if we can learn something from the reality about who is really in control?

If we can remember that God is in control, then we will also comprehend the wisdom of staying close enough to Him so we can stop worrying. He is ALL powerful. He commands: “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalms‬ ‭46:10‬) When our HEART is close to Almighty God, we are able to release our problems to The Creator and Sustainer of earth. We CAN control our heart. We can let it get lost in God. When we do, we find freedom like we’ve never known before. Worry disappears under the mighty shadow of God’s wings.

When we keep our close heart to God, we become confident in Him. HE is always confident in Himself. He is never intimidated by the free will of those He created or the tragic or unpredictable circumstances His creatures create. My “worry-free zone” is the place where I’m so close to Him that I can feel His presence and hear His voice. When I’m close to Almighty God, I know–He’s got it; He’s got me; and–He doesn’t worry—so, neither do I!
