God is teaching me what I call “heart success,” which is success that flows from loving people with God’s love. True success isn’t measured in possessions, position or wealth; rather, it’s measured in the hearts we touch. When God’s love is in us, He enables us to love like He does. It means we take time from our busy lives to love those from whom we know we can expect nothing in return. We rejoice over the blessings of others. We seek to be kind to our enemies. God’s love “seeketh not her own.” (1 Corinthians 13:5) We can’t be sold on this idea until we EXPERIENCE it because we’ve been trained to think the opposite.

The world teaches us to “seek our own” but God teaches us to “seek NOT our own.” We are misled into believing that having family, wealth, education, position, power, etc., is the greatest measures of success. To believe this is to live in a great delusion! How do we break free of this lie? We must understand the truth about success. Do we believe that Jesus was successful? What about Paul the Apostle? If we don’t believe they led successful lives, then we’ll never understand the truth about success. Success isn’t measured by the things that pass away–but by the eternal things which are never lost or forgotten. Jesus said: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭6:19-21‬) http://bible.com/59/mat.6.19-21.esv

We have “heart success” by knowing and loving God. This relationship makes us completely confident to love others. This circle of love is our most sure road to success. As Jesus said, there are no greater rules to live: “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” (Mark‬ ‭12:30-31‬)
