Have you ever experienced hurt so deep that you can’t even talk without crying? That deep pain which tears at your heart so much that even kind words, hugs, or distraction doesn’t comfort you? I’ve been there–and rather than turning to God–I’ve often chosen to suffer through it. However, God is teaching me is that heartbreak is an opportunity to experience the miracle of His comfort. God is the only one who can completely absorb my pain and replace it with Divine comfort. In fact, His comfort is so powerful that He empowers me to help others. The Bible promises us this powerful comfort: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:3-4‬) http://bible.com/59/2co.1.3-4.esv Isn’t it amazing to know that WE can be comforted by GOD?!?

It is truly a miraculous experience when God dries our tears and replaces them with His strength. When we are overwhelmed by pain, His hands are the best place for our heart. The cries of His children do not go unheeded! However, when pain begins, we must train ourselves to go FIRST to Him–NOT to–friends, family, entertainment, mind altering substances, work, physical activity, etc. They cannot heal and comfort us like God does. When we get to know Him through absorbing His Word, meditating on His goodness and talking with Him, we experience a comfort so peaceable that our heart cannot comprehend it. We develop a desire to be kept by Him not only in the painful times but in the good times. He makes everything better. He is, “the God of all comfort and Father of mercies.”
