Many of our relationship problems rob us of joy—not necessarily because of the ugly actions of the other person in the relationship—but rather, because we don’t know God well enough. We tend to blame the other person, but often it’s our own heart that’s in need of God’s healing. When we passionately pursue Him, we realize that He is the key to ALL relationships. What do I mean?

When we’re born again, God places His bottomless reservoir of love within us. The Bible says, “God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans‬ ‭5:5) When seek to know Him, we learn the power of true love and He empowers us to love like He does. God knows each heart, and when we’re close to Him, He gives us a peek inside the heart of others. He is Omniscient, He is Almighty, and His love is powerful. He gives us His perspective about ourselves AND about the other person in the relationship. For example, if they are hateful to us, God enables us to see THEIR pain and insecurity instead of allowing their actions to create pain and insecurity within US.

He removes our focus from the offense so we may move forward to forgive and heal.

When our relationship with God is strong, He fills us so full that we don’t need to depend on love from others to be joyful. When we pursue Him with the passion reserved for the greatest desire of our heart, we discover treasures more valuable than we ever imagined. No one gives us love, joy, peace, wisdom, satisfaction and power like He does! He is God. There is no Friend who will ever love us like He does! He is the kind of Friend to us that we need to be to each other! Jesus said, “Love one another as I have loved you.” (John‬ ‭15:12‬b)The deeper we’re in love with Him, the less shallow we become and the more we learn to love.
