One day when I was giving thanks to God, I realized that I was most thankful about my physical blessings—a great job, decent health, good food, family and friends, etc. What a revelation about my lack of understanding about God’s gifts! A baby prefers a $2.00 bottle of milk to a $50,000.00 diamond necklace because she has no concept of value. Like a crying baby, our prayers are loudest and most passionate when we are lacking in physical gifts. This dim perspective changes when we draw close to God and experience the priceless value of knowing Him. When our relationship with God becomes Irreplaceable, we cry to Him when we have walked away from His love, joy, peace, wisdom and power.

Do you desire God’s wisdom and the fruits of His Spirit as intensely as you desire to find a soulmate, to achieve career goals, own a home, or to go on you next big vacation? Remember, the PHYSICAL universe was created by our SPIRITUAL Father! When we grow to understand the pricelessness of God’s gifts, our heart treasures the eternal more than physical. We begin to understand that physical gifts are merely a carrier for His priceless treasures. Jesus said, “For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.” (Luke‬ ‭12:23‬)

Sustenance, health and necessities are not the goal; they merely provide us the means to glorify God.

Paul the Apostle prayed, “I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might.” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:16-19) When we become closer to God, He enlightens our heart with thankfulness about the rich desirability of His eternal gifts. Experiencing God’s presence gives us His rich, glorious, eternal perspective.
