How Does Our Life Draw Others To God?
God’s love for us enables us to freely love others so that when they see us—they know Him. ~KFaith
Life is so frail—and precious. We often take it for granted until illness, death or other tragedy brings us to our knees. We implore God for His help. However, are we asking for God’s help so we may glorify Him more? Not usually. Typically, it is so we can go back to our life of comfort and pleasure. Think about it–when life is good, do we take advantage of being healthy and relatively trouble free by finding more ways to glorify God or do we use that freedom to obtain more worldly satisfaction? Do we use our extra time, resources and great health to make more money, get in an extra workout, or buy more things? How deep or shallow have we chosen to live? What do we think is going to satisfy us? Life is frail—we should figure it out now.
In Isaiah Chapter 58, God reminds us of the rich satisfaction He offers: “If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” (Isaiah 58:10-11) Can we say that God is satisfying our desires? If God is not satisfying to us, then we’re looking for satisfaction in something besides Him. What is our plan for the day? Will we use our gifts and time to attempt to satisfy our desires with something which will never satisfy us?
Our frail existence may be permanently altered in a moment—a stroke, a car wreck, a financial disaster, etc., —but God is our only constant. When we know Him, we are motivated to live like He says in Isaiah–bringing light and hope to a darkened world. In Him, we find supreme satisfaction; thus, when times are good we double down for His glory. When we find our satisfaction in Him, our life becomes more satisfying than we ever imagined!
