When all my problems are crushing me, I’m especially grateful for God’s wisdom. He gives all His children a connection to His wisdom. However, just like we must have internet to do a Google search, we must have a God-connection to access His wisdom. We maintain our connection with Him by ridding ourselves of the sin which interferes with the connection. The Bible says, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James‬ ‭4:8)

Our connection breakers range from the things we give ourselves a pass on—like forgiving ugly words—to more obvious things which require a major lifestyle change. Anything which is inconsistent with the holiness of God interferes with the strength of our connection with Him. The more we learn about Him, the less we live in ignorance about what we need to change. As we change, the connection with Him gets stronger.

God’s wisdom produces the characteristics of His nature within us.

This beautiful passage from Isaiah becomes our personal experience: “The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backward.” (Isaiah 50:4-5)

Does our heart burst with joy at these words? It’s such an immense blessing when God pours His wisdom into my ignorant mind and gives me “the tongue of those who are taught” to “sustain with a word him who is weary.” When we’re close to Him, His love conforms our desires and we gratefully position our heart in the place where our connection to Him is the strongest. The strength of our God-connection empowers us to become all He created us to be!
