Sometimes I feel like such a little girl as God cups His hand under my chin, grasps both sides of my jaw firmly between His finger and thumb and gently turns my head around so that my eyes focus upon Him instead of what takes away my joy. I am so easily distracted by destructive thoughts. For example, I’ll often focus upon my failures. This is as destructive to my mind as focusing upon direct sunlight is to my eyes. Or, I’ll obsess about what I don’t have or haven’t accomplished and allow my mind to cripple my entire being from experiencing the joy God planned for the day. God loves His children so much! When our eyes are focused on Him, everything else is put in His perspective.

It’s like viewing our life from God’s lap.

Psalms 62 provides God’s perspective, along with a little humor: “On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah. Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them. Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work.” (‭Psalms‬ ‭62:7-12‬) When we’re standing next to God, even the most frightening person we must face—is merely a delusion!

Close to Him, our problems and disappointments are revealed as powerless puffs of air. When we’re close to Him, we live gloriously fearless and we’re filled with God’s Divine hope.
