Yesterday is gone. Who did we give our time to? Was our time managed based solely upon finite human knowledge, or did God’s Spirit direct us? Do we know anyone who knows more than God? The Bible says, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” (‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:15-17‬)

It’s foolish to live like we know more than God.

We are wise to allow God to manage our time–He accomplishes more in a single minute than we will ever accomplish in a lifetime. We often get so caught up in our own trouble, heartache and struggle for survival, that those things rule our time—and ultimately, they rule us. We are overwhelmed at the thought of giving more of our time to anyone. But, when we listen to God and trust His way, we gladly allow Him to control our time because we see He manages it better than we do. We find we are never too busy for the people He places in our path. We’d all agree that there is nothing we must accomplish today that is more important than what Jesus did when He walked the earth—right? Jesus always had time for people.

When we listen to God, we learn the wisdom of His ways. We see it makes sense to give control of our schedule over to Him. We begin to see the miracles of His time management skills! We’re not constantly stressed by not having enough time to do everything. We know God has accomplished what matters. The only way we’ll allow God to manage our time is if we know Him. We don’t trust someone we don’t know. We won’t know Him if we’re not close enough to Him to hear Him speak. When we start our day by spending time with Him and stay connected to Him throughout the day, He rules our time with His infinite wisdom.
